Neuroimaging: Tools and Techniques

April 1, 2016 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm

NeuRIG (Neuroscience Research Interest Group) at Lakehead University is pleased to sponsor a presentation, Neuroimaging: Tools and Techniques by Dr. Jane Lawrence Dewar (Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute) and Mr. Sasha Bubon (PhD candidate, Chemistry and Material Sciences):

Date: Friday, April 1st
Time: 4:30 – 5:30 pm
Location: ATAC 1001

Abstract: The development of imaging has greatly advanced our understanding of the nervous system. These tools allow the investigation of normal and abnormal anatomy and function from a molecular level to a systems level.  Dr. Dewar will provide a historical overview of the development of neuroimaging techniques and how they are applied.  Mr. Bubon works within the area of positron emission tomography (PET) innovation and will speak about how it is applied to understand brain function.

This event is part of the Talks on the Basics of Neuroscience that is open to everyone, including high school students, with the goal of making neuroscience widely accessible to all. Please direct inquiries to Dr. Josephine Tan, jtan@lakeheadu.ca.
