Guest Speaker: Dr. Dale Corbett (Scientific Director and CEO, Heart and Stroke Foundation Canadian Partnership for Stroke Recovery)
Dr. Dale Corbett is the Scientific Director and CEO of the CPSR. Prior to his appointment, Dale was Professor of Neurosciences in the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University and holder of a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Stroke and Neuroplasticity. His research is directed at promoting recovery of function following stroke by enhancing neuroplasticity processes. The approaches used to enhance brain reorganization and repair involve novel combinations of intensive rehabilitation, drug therapy, physical and cognitive exercise as well as transplants and mobilization of neural precursor cells.
