Further interest reading: neuRIG jan 19
Jen Lailey and Monique Mercier are psychotherapists, mindfulness practitioners, and teachers. In this talk they will sample the neuroscience literature, guide a mindfulness exercise and summarize some of the traditional Buddhist teachings in an effort to look at how the science, tradition and experience of mindfulness practice align. They will also share some of their own observations about how the practice has informed their own lives and their work with clients and patients.
Jennifer Lailey is a family physician by training who has shifted the focus of her practice to psychotherapy in recent years. She works at Lakehead University Health and Counselling Centre as well as in private practice in the community.
Monique Mercier is a psychological associate who practices mindfulness and cognitive behavioural techniques in her private practice with individual clients. She also co-facilitates Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy groups with Jen Lailey.
Open admission! Everyone is welcome to attend.
This event is part of the NeuRIG Lecture Series and is open to everyone, including high school students and community members, with the goal of making neuroscience widely accessible to all.
